By Iris Gomez: As the last season for the first decade arrives, designers have taken the fashion industry by storm with fierce and crucial designs that will evolve your personal style.
What’s in store for this season? Seventies fashion remains high on the list of carry-over trends, taking with it the likes of flares and wide-leg pants; while on the tough side, biker and fur follow through to the new season.
Regardless of what your budget is you can find your favorite fashion trends by visiting your local TJ Maxx or Marshalls stores or by navigating the internet with popular sites like shopstyle.com, ideeli.com, or gilt.com.
Just as the ’50s and ’60s are back, so too are particular elements of the ’70s. There are two main aesthetics: ’70s bohemian, and ’70s sophisticated glamour. When shopping, think dresses that fall like shimmering water in the evening and high-waist pants with elegant blouses by day.
Yes the 70s are back, but so too are the decade that they replaced. While a revival of 60s fashion as a trend started long ago, for fall 2011 the trend loses its American overtones and becomes thoroughly British. So as the revival of the 70s caters to those whose tastes align with American fashion for fall 2011, so too does the 1960s fashion allow for those with an appreciation for British fashion.
It’s a fabric that divides people through its controversy, and one that has been a small part of autumn / fall / winter collections in recent years. During autumn (fall) / winter 2011 it all changes and fur clothing plays a large role in many of the collections from the world’s biggest fashion houses.
With skinny pants and jeans now so common that they no longer make a statement it was inevitable that a different style would emerge as a trend. It didn’t necessarily have to be this one, but with the come back of all things 1970s it was inevitable that fashion forward people would turn to bell-bottoms and flared pants as a style of choice.
This style showed up on many of the fall 2011 runways, and the latest versions are really wearable for everyday – toss one over a button-down shirt and relaxed jeans for the weekend or a dramatic cape with black leather leggings and edgy boots for a night out.
