By Lynn Ponder: I was invited to attend the Fox Hispanic Media and MTV3 Upfronts in NYC. The first thing that went through my mind, a parte de estar super emocionada, was that I had no visual idea of what this experience would be as I had never attended one previously and had no clue.
And to add another layer to this new experience, within 3 days I decided and created a social networking event at the Yotel New York “Four” Lounge that would take place the night before the upfronts.
The concept for my social networking event was to gather people from different industries, so they could network and discover opportunities to collaborate, promote the venue and create social buzz before, during and after. The theme which originated in Miami with hashtag #SocialChicas | has evolved to include Chicos. Within 3 days #Social Chicas | Chicos Tweetup had 2,375 Tweetvite views and lots of comments on Facebook WEPA!
During #SocialChicas NYC event I had the biggest and most pleasant surprise ever, imagine that the Entertainment Sales Manager of the Yotel, Suzy Ann Machado, comes by to say that a super star was in the Hotel and on his way to the area I was having my event. Cut to Juanes at #SocialChicas, being so kind to stop for a moment take a picture and say Hola!
Next morning arrival at the red carpet of Fox Hispanic Media Upfront meeting executives, interviewing artists and attending an amazing presentation by Emiliano Saccone, EVP Fox Latin American Channels, Oswald Mendez, SVP Fox Hispanic Media Group and Hernan Lopez, President and CEO Fox International Channels.
President and CEO Hernan Lopez declares that Mundo Fox philosophy is about a new mindset that will give our audience “Latino Entertainment with American Attitude”.
Another interesting quote Mr. Lopez shared was that for advertisers it is an amazing opportunity to target the specific demographic they want to reach, as ads will be accepted in English, Spanish and Bilingual just as their audience is!!! FYI..I was having a blast tweeting every quote LOL!
Some of the shows that caught my attention were: From Utilisima Latino “Tu Vida Mas Simple” making Latinas life easier, showing them how to save money and have fun at the same time with the charming and beautiful Luz Blanchet, sweetness Martin Llorens and our Boricua Twitter Friend Laura Posada.
From Mundo Fox we liked the fact the “Alla Te Espero” story is based on a Latina Legend, “Los Exitosos Perez” is a fun awkward situation with a great cast that I feel latinos in the US are going to love to watch, “Corazones Blindados” with Andres Sandoval who is a hottie is going to crush it. Original drama “Lynch” and “Mentes en Shock” will have a cult latino following and Kadabra2 will bring in a lot of the Latin America audience by having Ex RBD Christopher von Uckerman who also participated in the musical aspects of this show. Mega production “El Capo” con Marlon Moreno a series, we believe can leave the audience hooked J)
There is no doubt that FOX Hispanic Media is a force to rekon with and with its original content, different mindset and understanding that we are “Americano como TU” living in the US, should give the other Spanish Networks some fierce competition.
Transition to a totally different type of upfront = MTV3. Arrival into a club type environment with DJ Mauricio Parra spinning to the hottest Latin and American music followed by enchanting Wilmer Valderrama as host for the presentation and also the Executive Producer of Reality Show “The Ricardo Laguna Project” which promises to keep the 15-18 demo engaged and glued to this show without a doubt.
New programs like “The Dulce Maria Show”, “From Chongas to Reinas”, “The Chisme Club”, “The Golden Boys” with Oscar de la Hoya, Unplugged with Juanes and Wisin y Yandel were announced. Ending with a bang as Juanes comes into the stage with an awesome loving performance.
We have an album of pictures on Facebook of this unique upfront which tells the story of our super fun evening meeting the new MTV3 programming for 2013 including a LIVE performance with our newest dear to our heart artist Juanes. We recorded one of the songs and have some very cool moments captured on our digital camera for our social channels…LOVE me some social media
Kudos to FOX Hispanic Media who treated me and two other wonderful latina digital influencers Gabriela Natale y Alicia Bouchardt VIP all the way. We were picked up at the airport, driven to all the events and it made us feel very welcomed and appreciated. Special thanks to the great team at The Jeffrey Group that executed these events perfectly well and made my experience unforgettable. Thank you so much Mike, Kyrsten, Juliana and Paola! Excellent job.
