Did you know that grapes are one of the three most consumed and most popular fruits in America and that the US table grape season runs from May to January.  99% of grapes in the US are grown in California with 100 million boxes being produced, where 60% are sold in the US and 40% are exported.

“Grapes are nature’s perfect snacking gift – they are portable, delicious and fresh and loved by children and adults alike,” said Karen Brux, vice president of marketing communications for the commission.  “We hear a lot about super foods.  This is our way of highlighting the wonderful qualities of grapes from California that make them the perfect super snack”. Now being touted as “The Original Super Snack”.

Grapes of every color contain a variety of antioxidants and other polyphenols, natural components in grapes that may contribute to a healthy heart.  Grapes also contain potassium and are a good source of vitamin K, wich plays a role in helping blood to clot.

Plus with just 90 calories per servicing, grapes from California are an all-natural snack that you can enjoy with no fuss and no muss, making them a super substitute for high-calorie, high-fat, processed foods.
