By Lynn Ponder: This year I have been fortunate to attend great conferences about Social Media and Business Practices but one of the last conferences of 2012 that I am mega excited to tell you about is Latinos in Social Media 2012. taking place in Houston, Texas from October 25-27.
Latinos in Social Media (LATISM) is a pioneering social media organization, which has been hailed as the most influential online movement in the new multicultural Web.
LATISM 2012 is divided in 3 different tracks to learn and network:
Business Empowerment Track:
Top Latino executives will share marketplace best practices and culturally relevant approaches for supporting small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs.
Actually, I will be moderating one of the panels on the Business Track: The New Latino Media: Digital Journalism con Sabor with Tony Vargas from Latino Rebels, Adrian Carrasquillo, NBC Latino, Vanessa Smith, Impacto and Isaac Vazquez, Impremedia. The audience will learn what it takes to successfully leverage the power of social to provide content in real-time social world and new trends that the New Latino media has embraced.
During The New Latino Media Panel we will be selecting a question from Twitter to answer via the live stream at LATISM 2012. Its a great opportunity to learn from Latino Leaders in digital media. I will be looking out for your questions via Twitter @Ponderful.
Technology Leadership Track:
This track is about social-change: as Latinos continue to make strides in developing new and cutting edge technologies, it is essential to prepare ourselves with the skill sets, professional development and networking opportunities to become technology leaders in the current global competitive environment.
Health Innovation Track:
Information and resource-sharing can undoubtedly make an impact in the health and quality of people’s lives within our community. This track will feature top researchers, health practitioners and organizations who will explore the key health issues faced by our community, the individual and community barriers to health education, the need for advocacy in health policy and the path to equity in health communication.
Each one of these Tracks and panels will give you an opportunity to learn and ask questions as well as to engage with high level professionals of the industry.
The parties add another layer of fabulous networking opportunities in a fun environment, usually sponsored by great brands to also learn about. This year they are having a “Pijama Party” and the Red Carpet Gala Awards which promise to create an interesting buzz online and offline!
Last year I connected with The Ford Motor Company which has been a remarkable experience throughout 2012 and this year at LATISM 12 they have sponsored part of my trip WEPA!
I shot a video shout out about my experience at LATISM 2011 and the advantages of attending this year. One way to keep up with everything that will be happening is to follow @Latism use hashtag #LATISM12 and you can always follow @webcitygirls and @ponderful for all the sessions we will attend and tweet about. Hope to see you in Houston, you will thank me for exhorting you to GO
