What are “Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián”?
In Puerto Rico “Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastian” is a four day event in one of the most enchanting beautiful cities of the world, “Mi Viejo San Juan” in a street called San Sebastián “en mi isla del encanto”. Thousands of Boricuas unite first in a mass to honor the martyr St. Sebastian followed by music performances, dances, arts and crafts, great food and lots of drinking lol! It literally extends the Holiday happiness and marks the end of the Christmas Season.
Going strong on its second year, “Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián” in Miami organized by Emmanuel “Manny” Flores, take place on Saturday January 18 from 2pm to 4am at 1401 South Miami Avenue in front of Segafredo Brickell. “Fiestas de San Sebastián” in Miami brings latino artists Maripily Rivera a tenacious popular Boricua and Julián Gil a Boricua at heart as the hosts for the evening. Ex. Miss Universe, the beautiful Zuleyka Rivera will be recognized as a Puerto Rican living in Miami who has gained success in the entertainment world. The event is presented by RUMS of Puerto Rico.
As part of the Celebrations a “pleneros group” will perform with a typical Puerto Rican Christmas music beat and rhythm played using hand drums called “panderetas” or “pleneras”. Also participating about 20 craftsmen and artists. Other music in bars and restaurants in South Miami Avenue, were invited the singer and her band Rebecca Pla Paradiso, DJ Phred, disc jockey of the Eternal and Brava clubs, and several artists from the urban genre.
Mi Gente we will be there with our “pleneras”, “guiro” and the wonderful voice of Ponderela who is always the “alma de la fiesta”. Boricuas in Miami nos vemos el Sábado wepa!!!
