It’s almost summer, and already plenty hot enough in many parts to start spending your time on the beach. Of course, some of you might never have left. But with the beach comes beach fashion, and which looks are hot on the sand this year. You might not care about having the perfect “bikini body”, but everyone deserves to look and feel great on the beach, no matter their size. So what’s everyone going to be wearing this year? How much midriff should you show, what’s the latest in wraps and sarongs, and are gladiator sandals still in?
Bikini, Tankini, One-Piece?
The number one essential fashion item for the beach has to be your swimsuit, whether you go near the water or just lounge in the sun. It’s far too hot not to show some skin, or at least wear minimal items of clothing. But what style should you wear? The truth is, everyone will be comfortable in different styles. Where one girl is happy in a bikini, another would much rather cover up with a one-piece. It’s up to you how much you want to show, but, of course, there are particular styles you might see more than others.
Navels on Show
Even when not in swimsuits, it seems everyone wants to show off their midriff this summer. Yes, everyone is taking a trip back to Clueless-era ’90s and getting their crop-tops on. There are two main styles taking off: crop-tops and bra-tops. Which one you wear depends on how much flesh you want to put on show. If just a bit, crop-tops are for you and look great with a high-waisted skirt. But if you want to be a little more daring, take it a little higher with a short bra-top. If you want to draw even more attention to your navel, it’s time to think about accessorizing. If you have body piercings, have a look at Navelpiercing so you can match rings and studs to your outfit.
Or wear belts or bikini chain accessories to add some sparkle to your outfit.
But what about the shoes? It turns out that gladiator sandals are sticking around for another year. So if you still have a pair or two from previous years, you can give them another outing. Of course, if you don’t have any, it’s the perfect excuse to get some. However, if the catwalks are anything to go by, this year’s gladiator shoes are next level. You might have bought a short pair in previous years, but this year it’s go tall or go home. Knee-length gladiators make several appearances in this year’s spring/summer collections.
You can’t just walk around in your swimsuit and sandals forever. Well, you could, but it’s best to put some proper clothes on now and then. One thing that could be making an appearance this year is the cute white dress. If you want to look all sweet and demure on the beach, get yourself a short and delicate white dress to wear when you’re not sunbathing or swimming.
Don’t forget about accessorizing either. You’ll need your big shades, a chic sunhat, and this year you might spot a few headscarves too.
