The Parenting Guide for the Rest of Us struck a chord with moms everywhere, and now (finally!) there is more more of what we crave—a guide to help parents through holidays, special occasions, and the dreaded school calendar with Sh*tty Mom for All Seasons: Half-@ssing It All Year Long (Abrams; April 5, 2016; U.S. $19.95; Hardcover with jacket).
Eager to share with our awesome community of Mom’s, we got into action and shared our Sh*tty Mom book copy with Karen E. Lopez, who devoured the book and sent us her thoughts:
I received the book Sh*tty mom for all seasons. I started to read it and let me tell you I couldn’t stop reading it. I was laughing from the moment I started to read until I was done.
In some areas it made me think of ME!
Perfect example would be the one about throwing your kid a birthday party on page 18, it brought me to a laugh because I am doing that right now. I am in the process of giving my son a party for his 15th birthday. Nonetheless, it’s a surprise.
We are always trying to be better than this person and that person. We have to be our own unique person.
How is it that we have managed to get lost in an uptight world of trying to top this person or the other? We must have best of the line for this, best of the line for that. When in reality most kids all they want is just to have a ball, a few friends, and enjoy the cake.
Where was this book when I was younger and when I took being a mom, too serious?
To sum it up – at times we forget that before being a mother we were a young adult that would go out and have fun. We would not take life too serious. As parents, we must remember that we have the future in our hands and we must enjoy it.
Thank you Lynn for letting me read this book it was an amazing book.
You are welcome Karen
