It was just last week that we lost Mexico’s legendary cantautor Juan Gabriel at the age of 66.
Este domingo, September 11, Telemundo will premiere Hasta Que Te Conocí ahead of the originally scheduled November air date in light of Gabriel’s unexpected death.
The biographical series has already successfully aired in more than 15 countries and recounts the late singer’s life from the time of his birth through the struggles and success he experienced on his journey to becoming “El Divo de Juárez.”
El actor colombiano Julián Román will play Gabriel in his adulthood from the ages of 20-40, while Carlos Yorvick, Alejandro Flores, Ricardo Zertuche, Nohek Yoali, and Matías del Castillo will portray him in his younger years. Gabriel’s mother, Victoria, who was one of the most important people in his life, will be played in her youth by Claudia Pineda and by the famed Mexican actress Dolores Heredia in her adulthood. The series also stars Marco Treviño, Gabriel Roel, Julio Bracho, Maria Rojo, and Irán Castillo.
Born Alberto Aguilera Valadez, Juan Gabriel was a six-time Grammy Award nominee who composed more than 1,500 songs, among them las colaboraciones “Querida” con Juanes y “La Frontera” con Julión Alvarez and J Balvin. Throughout his 45-year-long career, he released 60 + albums, selling over 100 million copies worldwide. Gabriel was also recognized for extensive charity work and in 2009 was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
