LATISM 2016 “Latinos as Agents of Change”

With a central theme of “Latinos as Agents of Change,” I have said it before and this year is no different, LATISM is the only conference that has a soul. It has a soul not only because of the volunteers that create it together with founder Ana Roca, but also because of the people that attend who truly want to learn, connect, be inspired, and share their passion. LATISM reunites yearly to bring together innovative thinkers, technologists, experts and influencers to start ideas and form partnerships and plans. Speakers focus on education, technology, best practices, new tools, trends, funding and partnerships, teaching the audience how to deliver results and create sustainable communities using the power of social media to make a positive impact in people’s lives. In addition, there is a STEAM Fair about how the new generation is contributing to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. The Fair offers Coding, Parent Advocacy and College Readiness Workshops, plus a Hackathon Demo Day with a group of young brilliant makers developing real solutions to real problems affecting the Latino community through the creation of apps. This year, one of the panels that impacted me most was “Latinas Creating Wealth” with several powerhouse Latinas like Lili Gil Valleta, who presented an amazing opportunity for Latinos and her latest venture HSN Project American Dreams Searching Latino Inventors, a business competition. Also speaking on the panel were Lucienne Gigante and Marta Michelle Colon, who introduced us to Access Latina, a non-profit organization that looks to bring together Latina entrepreneurs with the capital resources they need, including access to networks and mentoring. Cathy Hackly, Borja Perez, Erick Lorenzo and Gabriel Sama conducted an eye-opening look into “The Future of Storytelling: From Live Video to Virtual Reality & 360 Degree Video,” where I learned how VR will become more accessible to consumers and how it is changing the way we communicate and create content online. I also had a great experience as speaker in two different panels: “Influencer2Brand” and “Building your Brand”. LATISM Conference incorporates the Top Influencers Retreat, which was originally created in 2012 in Washington DC. I have had the privilege of being selected among the Top 100 Digital influencers every year to this date. It is a full day of training that includes behind-the-scenes education with mentors as well as a wonderful networking opportunity. This year LATISM 2016 Awards Best in Tech Innovation and Social Media was very special, as I was nominated Best Latina Network Leader beside outstanding nominees Ana Flores and Yadira Ambert. I was honored to WIN and I was told that I got tons of votes!!! 2016 Influencers...

Here comes #LATISM16

Founded in 2009, LATISM is a nonprofit nonpartisan organization dedicated to advancing the social, civic and economic status of the Latino community. This organization has been leading truthfully, uniting digital influencers, as well as encouraging Latinos to pursue education in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM). I discovered LATISM in 2010 on Twitter by their notorious hashtag #LATISM and have been blessed ever since by tremendous friendships, learnings and business opportunities. LATISM conference has always impacted me with meaningful connections and helped develop better skills.  This year will be extra special as I will be speaking on a panel, where I will be able to share my journey creating movement online #BeNumberless to empower women…que emoción!!! During this wonderful new opportunity I intend to share acquired knowledge, experiences and challenges to confidently empower others. HIGHLIGHTS LATISM16 kicks-off with the Top Influencer Retreat, selected based on Leadership, Humbleness, Commitment and Passion. Grateful to be part of this inspiring group of influencers since 2012, who are truly outstanding and hard working women we call “hermanas”. Although women are the majority at this retreat, there are some men in the digital space who are part of the chosen, and I am looking forward to meet for the first-time. The day-retreat will unite and inspire us to advance our digital influence and validate our work as “Latinos as Change Agents,” theme of the actual conference. One of my most proudest moments visiting the WhiteHouse as part of LATISM first-ever Top Blogueras Retreat 2012: THE CONFERENCE 2016 The conference takes place at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, Orlando Florida from October 19 – 21, exploring tech and social media avenues. The soul and machine behind everything that takes place is composed of an amazing team of LATISM volunteers hosted by the Orlando members, guided by a brilliant and thoughtful woman, Ana Roca, one of the original founders. THE TRACKS Business and Tech Entrepreneurship Civic Engagement Diversity and Inclusion Education Health Policy HACKATON & 2016 S.T.E.A.M. FAIR The conference will host a 36-hour Hackathon and will have it’s 2nd annual S.T.E.A.M Youth Fair in the last day of the conference where 5th-12th graders from around the country will display projects in science, technology, engineering, arts and math. Manejando a Ciegas

Next Adventure: Washington, DC #LATISM15 Conference

Feeling blessed and thankful to be part of Latinos in Tech and Social Media non-profit organization. For the past four years at LATISM conferences from Chicago, California, New York to Washington, DC, I have been very fortunate to be recognized for my determination and hard work among a powerful group of amazing latinas called Top Blogueras. This year is more special as I celebrate five years of my journey creating and expanding a positive voice through my social media brand webcitygirls//. Extremely excited and grateful to receive a nomination as one of the “Best of the Best in Cyberlandia 2015” LATISM Best Latin@ LifestyleBlogger @webcitygirls. Proud of nomination @LATISM Best Latin@ LifestyleBlogger @webcitygirls #LATISM15 PLSE vote> http://t.co/QicRYyAA3V pic.twitter.com/wYWyxfWp2R — Lynn Ponder (@Ponderful) October 14, 2015 The trip begins on Tuesday, October 27 and promises to be remarkable. It starts with LATISM 4th Annual Top Blogueras Retreat, where we are mentored by widely successful latinas or latinos who share the knowledge with us. Last year we were mentored among others by Susan Tubert, Creative Director of Creative Entertainment at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. In 2012 we were invited to a meeting at the Whitehouse, in 2013 to the United Nations, so guess what this year I get to have a one on one with Marco Rubio the new favorite to become Front-Runner in G.O.P. It is quite possible that Mr. Rubio will be leading a conversation with Florida Top Blogueras while being our tour guide in the Capitol. How amazing is that? In a year of up coming elections, I feel honored to get in the know through my passion for social media communications and marketing. TOP BLOGUERAS 2014 LATISM 2015 Conference taking place in Washtington, DC October 28-30, 2015, will be all about moving latinos to drive the innovation economy. Impressive line-up of speakers will share their points of view from the Department of Education of the United States, Technology present with Google, Advertising Agencies say YES to LATISM 2015 with Ogilvy and Republica, TV Networks like NBC, Telemundo, Univision, young tech entrepreneurs and so much more. Stay connected that I will be sharing every step of this new adventure on Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook. I feel like a winner already with the nomination received, but if I win you will find out through social media LoL! Plus kudos to TOYOTA for continuous support with the LATISM Awards Gala. This is their 6th year empowering our voices, our technology and our journey. TOYOTA is a true partner of LATISM. APLAUSOS!!! Mi Gente nos vemos in Washington, DC. Thank you lots for your support...
